T.I. names the top five rappers moving trap music forward in twenty money three. I’m frank5d and this is what’s up on the rap scene. It’s the 20th anniversary of his seminal sophomore album Trap Music and T.I. is online running down his current list of top trap artists.
The recognized rappers are Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Moneybagg Yo, Young Thug and Future. Not everyones cup of tea, but definitely not a bad list of hit makers. Trap icon Two Chainz has recently stepped away from the genre to focus on a more brand friendly persona, going so far as to call trap music dead, well before the recent death of his French Bulldog, TrappyGoHard.
T.I elaborates in the video posted by XXL saying Lil Baby gives Ted Talks on the mic, and shouts out 21 for thinking out the box with themes of getting out the trap. He says Moneybagg has a way of saying simple things that sound complex due to his wordplay and recognizes Thug and Future for unique and diverse approaches to Trap Music.T.I. knows a thing or two about Trap and says his last album will see him lay down the crown as the king of the south so this list could be a bit of posturing for who he thinks should be the heir to the throne.
