Nas Wins His First Grammy

Let’s just say it, Nas deserved a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 1991, the year it was released. We must also say of course that the category was first introduced in 1995 with the first award being given to Naughty By Nature the next year, the same year he released “It Was Written”

With his 13th studio album “King’s Disease”, Nasir Jones has finally received one of the most prestigious awards any artists can achieve and we are celebrating his latest honor. The Queens, NY emcee left with empty hands 13 times prior and while he’s one to “never let a statue tell him how nice he is”, we can be sure he feels decent about beating out powerhouse nominees “Black Habits” by D. Smoke, “A Written Testimony” by Jay Electronica, “Alfredo” by Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist, and “The Allegory” by Royce da 5′9” in an ever controversial process.

Nasty Nas, at 47 years of age, is coming up on his 30 year recording debut anniversary and shows no signs of slowing his roll any time soon and this win only places him in a certain esteem within the recording arts academy. An esteem that the Hip Hop community held him in ever since he went to hell for snuffing Jesus.

Congratulations to Nas on winning his first ever Grammy Award!
