Quavo Is Also Joining Kanye West And Others By Boycotting The Grammys

The Recording Academy appeared to inflame several Hip Hop figures when they axed Kanye West performance from the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Kanye’s “Eazy” collaborator The Game went in on the Grammys in an Instagram post and Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince waged war on the Grammys as well, encouraging Drake, Kanye, The Weeknd and Nicki Minaj to join the fight.

“HIP HOP VS. THE GRAMMYS: @champagnepapi, @kanyewest, @theweeknd, @nickiminaj,” Prince wrote in an Instagram post. “The powers that be will be mad at me about this one but FUCK EM! I love the culture! The seed is planted … let’s water it.

TMZ caught up with Quavo at the Los Angeles International Airport who was intrigued by the idea of J. Prince throwing his own concert on Sunday (April 3), the same night as the Grammys.

“Let’s do it,” he said. “We need to make our own rules for those who appreciate the real shit that’s going on in the streets, that appreciate the culture, that appreciate the best new artists. Instead of a freshman class, we need like best new artist in the street whenever they come out. We couldn’t go on freshman class ’cause we was a group. Just shit like that, all these little stipulations … we the creators.”

He added the culture needs, “younger guys tapped in” to decide who’s the best of the best.
