Nelly busted in Tennessee for guns and drugs on his tour bus

Complex reports the 40-year-old rapper—real name Cornell Haynes—was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia while on his way to St. Louis, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

At around 9:20 AM, Trooper Michael Loftis stopped Nelly’s tour bus because it didn’t properly display DOT and IFTA stickers. Further investigation was conducted after he noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Loftis, along with THP Sgt. Donald Jennings, did a thorough search of the bus and discovered a plastic bag in the sleeping area. It tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. The officers also uncovered 100 small Ziploc bags, which are commonly used to sell narcotics, as well as a number of handguns. Times Free Press reports that a “gold-plated 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a 45-caliber Tarus pistol, and a 500 magnum Smith and Wesson” were found.

The bus was occupied by six people. One was identified as Brian Jones from St. Louis, Missouri, who is a convicted felon. He was carrying a gun on him and was charged.

Nelly and Jones were taken to the Putnam County Jail.
