Ye and Drake Will Perform at the Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert

The show will take place on December 9th at the Los Angeles Coliseum to raise consciousness about the plight of the infamous Chicago Black Disciples co-founder. The event marks the first time the two Hip Hop powerhouses will take the stage together in over a decade.

Larry Hoover Jr. recently appeared on Drink Champs with Ye to speak about his fathers incarceration. Hoover Sr., now in prison for almost 50 years serving six life sentences, has claimed his innocence the entire time but was also indicted in the mid-nineties for continuing a criminal organization from behind bars. He was convicted in 97 on all charges and is currently housed at Florence Supermax in Colorado.

“December 9th you will see them together advocating for Freeing Larry Hoover. We are gonna get the word out to as many people as we can. We gotta let the powers that be know that we want Larry Hoover in our community. That’s gonna be a big way to do it. Plus we want to show people of other communities that we can come together in peace.” said Hoover Jr. to the Murder Master Music Show.

Ye plead for Hoovers clemency when he met with then president Donald Trump in 2018 and featured a recorded message from a jailed Hoover on his 2021 DONDA album. Recently, Houston Hip Hop huncho J. Prince got involved to mediate the cold beef between Ye and Drake for a bigger purpose. The benefit concert is definitely a byproduct of his involvement and it’s great to see greats come together for a better cause.

Many people in Hip Hop think that the release of Larry Hoover would be influential in helping to curb the street violence plaguing Chicago, IL. Hopefully that is the case as we finally see these Hip Hop giants ending their feud and coming together for a better culture.
