Kanye West and Drake performed a benefit concert for jailed Chicago legend Larry Hoover at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The two performed separate sets with a couple overlapping songs and even performed each others records. There were no guest appearances, just Ye and Drake on stage for the world.
The event was live streamed across all platforms and has already garnered millions of views all over the internet. It was a monumental moment for Hip Hop as the two powerhouse artists have not been on stage together in a decade. Lots of speculation led up to the event as Ye and Drake have traded shots in public in a sort of Calabasas cold war that has even dragged other artists into the fray.
Whatever the state of their relationship, it was great to see the duo come together for the cause. Larry Hoover, the co-founder of the Gangster Disciples is currently serving a 200 year sentence. It is believed that Hoover will be influential in stemming the violence that has plagued the streets of Chicago over the past twenty years.
