We are going to take a moment to marvel at the master mentor of makeovers, the walrus of reinvention, the vicar of revival, Sean Puff Daddy P. Diddy Diddy Brother Love Puffy Combs. The mogul of a man is making it official by legally changing his middle name to “Love”.
Sharing a photo of his un-redacted Florida drivers license, complete with the ultra-exclusive Star Island address, just to flex, the mega-mogul drew attention to his new middle moniker with the caption “Look what I just got in the mail today, IT’S OFFICIAL!!! WELCOME TO THE LOVE ERA.”
The move, 3 years in the making, is finally official. Brother Love announced through Instagram, the “very serious, serious news” on his birthday back in 2017 stating that the is “something different” and “will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of my other monikers but Love, or Brother Love.”
Definitely something different, B. Love has been a presence on the Hip Hop scene since 1988, providing the world with some of the most memorable music and moments in the genres short history. From Craig Mack to Lil Kim to Black Rob to the Notorious B.I.G., Love has been in the “not-so” background, executive producing anthem after anthem before embarking on his solo career as a rapper.
The “Hate Me Now” artist has always received his fair share of flak for his antics and this latest news is no different with stars scratching their heads and fans proclaiming that he will always be Diddy in their eyes. The Harlem born Hip Hop baron has birthed a number of identities but Love is a beautiful new beginning for one of the leaders of our culture to present to the people.
No matter what we call him, Brother Love will remain a staple of innovation and redefinition in the Hip Hop-Scape. Let’s keep some respect on whatever name he is going by at any present time.
