Method Man Forms New Production Company Six AM

Straight from the slums of Shaolin, Clifford “Method Man” Smith has been a force in Hip Hop entrepreneurialism through rapping, acting, hosting, comics and clothing among other ventures. His latest bag grab sees him teamed up with his manager, Shauna Garr to establish Six AM Productions.

The entity will specialize in producing a myriad of theatrical and television releases as well as streaming/social media content. Variety reports that Six AM has already sold its first feature, “How High 3” to Universal 1440, hoping to see Method Man and Redman back in the lead roles as Jamal and Silas. Meth has been acting since the late 90’s and has appeared in numerous films and TV shows, most recently for his work as attorney David Maclean.

He is also no stranger to production serving as executive producer for the Hulu series “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”, recently green-lit for a second season, alongside Brian Grazer and fellow clan-mate Robert “RZA” Diggs. Garr brings her own impressive resume to the company, boasting work with MTV and Wheel of Fortune as well as former executive positions at Paramount and Buena Vista. She has been a huge guiding force in the acting career of Method Man.

Www.sixam-ent.com states, “Shauna Garr and Cliff “Method Man” Smith partnered in SIX AM to provide diverse talent and produce unique stories that touch a universal chord distributed across all platforms: theatrical, television, streaming, podcasts, publishing and emerging technologies. We are talent, creators and producers — we rise early to grind in a comfortable work environment — house slippers welcome.”

The move is in line with the trend of elder statesmen in Hip Hop finding new lanes as entrepreneurs in Hollywood. Joining heavy-hitters such as 50 Cent, Ice Cube, Nas, Jay Z and Common, Method Man finds himself in an inner circle of sorts, comprising of rappers turned not-just actors, but full-fledged movie-makers and we cannot wait to see what projects, beyond the anticipated How High 3, that Six AM brings to light. Stay tuned.
