Key Glock Continuing The “Paper Route Empire” Legacy After Dolph’s Passing

Hip-hop took a huge loss when we lost Young Dolph, the Memphis rapper who was shot and killed at the age of 36 in his own hometown. Not only was he one of the most highly sought-after artists in the rap game, but his decision to remain independent and do things his way is something that we can only admire and respect.

Thankfully, Key Glock is here to carry the torch with Dolph’s Paper Route Empire brand and movement. Thanks to Dolph, Glock has since risen to the forefront of hip-hop, boasting undeniably braggadocious bars, clever punchlines, and straight motivation for all those who listen. Taking after Dolph’s independent mindset, Glock’s effortless rapping ability deems him a superstar in his own right.

On Friday, May 6th, Key Glock took over The Belasco in downtown Los Angeles on his Yellow Tape Tour, put on by APA Agency. In light of his most recent projects Yellow Tape and Yellow Tape 2, the venue was wrapped in yellow caution tape, reminding you that Mr. Glock is about to give fans a show for the books.

With fellow PRE artist Kenny Muney opening the show, it wasn’t long before the crowd started screaming “KEY GLOCK!” for him to come on stage. Soon enough, he stepped on stage decked out in a Gallery Dept shirt and sweatpants, with a huge, bright blue dolphin chain around his neck — reminding folks that Dolph will forever live on with us.

Performing fan favorites, “Son of a Gun,” “Something Bout Me,” “Juicemane,” “Gucci & Dolph,” and “Word on the Streets,” crowd-goers went extra crazy when he performed his standout single “Ambition For Cash.” The song was recently certified Gold.

The pivotal moment during the show began as Glock started paying tribute to Young Dolph, starting with his viral smash “100 Shots.” He had Kenny Muney and go-to producer Bandplay pop out on stage to help him celebrate the record, before going into a run of Dolph’s greatest hits: “Cut It,” “Get Paid,” “Preach,” and their collaborative single “Major.”

Glock closed the show with “Channel 5,” “Mr. Glock,” “Since 6ix,” and “Russian Cream” for his day one fans.
