Five rappers who attended college

Many rappers and hip hop artists are stereotyped based on their musical style and lyrical content. Although they may not express it through their music, there are artists in the rap industry that enjoy a variety of things like basketball, real estate, and even psychology during down time. Rap artists may be stereotyped as untalented and uneducated criminals, but these five emcees may convince someone to consider otherwise.

Childish Gambino — Also known for his stand-up comedy as his real name Donald Glover, Bino graduated from New York University with a degree in dramatic writing.

2 Chainz — After graduating high second in his class, the former Playaz Circle member went on to play basketball and graduate from Alabama State University. He’s also a real estate agent, who knew?

Common — Common left Chicago to attend Florida A&M University, where he studied business administration.

Lil Wayne — Wayne was accepted into the University of Houston after receiving his GED, however he dropped out before finishing the year in order to focus on his music career. He later enrolled at Phoenix University and took online courses majoring in psychology.

Kanye — Kanye first got a scholarship and attended Chicago’s Academy of Art, but quickly transferred to Chicago State University to major in English. But just as his debut album is titled, we all know that the producer is a College Dropout.
