Big K.R.I.T Delivered A Real Hip Hop Experience At LA Show

If you’re a fan of good music, good entertainment, and good weed, then you’re probably a fan of Big K.R.I.T. With a line waiting to get into the Belasco theater 30 minutes before his set, the Meridian, Mississippi rapper gave his fans exactly what they wanted to see and a show that a fan of any artist should expect. On Thursday, May 19th, K.R.I.T.’s 33-night Digital Rose Tour made its 18th stop at The Belasco in downtown Los Angeles.

Opening acts included Cam Wallace, Price, and Elhae, who has a record featuring Big Krit titled “Sanctuary” in which he performed. All 3 artists set the tone and ignited the energy that was to come upon the arrival of Big K.R.I.T. Just before he came out, fans eagerly chanted “BIG KRIT” who came out promptly at 9:30pm — his scheduled set time.

The amount of energy K.R.I.T. embodied was spectacular, dominating the venue and putting on a show for his most dedicated fans. His aura was that of something that typically does not exist amongst male rappers, something that we don’t often get to see. It was impressive! Rocking dark Cartier frames, a white Digital Rose jacket, black jeans, and a black Digital Rose t-shirt  (from his tour merch collection which was also available for fans to purchase), K.R.I.T. kept his cool and laidback persona — all while he jumped up and down, did a two step, recited lyrics acapella, and displayed magnificent stage presence throughout his entire hour long set, from start to finish. The showstopper fed off the energy of his fans’ fist pumps, the aroma of their weed smoke, and their ability to recite all of his lyrics to all of his records word for word.

Kicking off the show with “My Sub” from his 2014 mixtape Return of 4eva really got the crowd hyped. Fans waved their hands up and down to the beat while screaming “I put that on my sub my sub my sub!” K.R.I.T.’s ability to have the crowd engaged was amazing. His sound is diverse, with a mix of trunk-rattling anthems and southern soulful grooves, which fans appreciate.

Next, he performed fan favorites from his 2013 mixtape King Remembered In Time “Multi Til The Sun Die,” “My Trunk,” and “How U Luv That.” where he brought out fellow Mississippi rapper, Big Sant to help him perform. The two are childhood friends and shared an amazing bond on stage as they performed together.

K.R.I.T. also took time after a few records off his most recent album Digital Roses Don’t Die to speak to the crowd directly. When performing “Just 4 U,” he wanted to let all the men know that it’s okay to be in love and change their ways for a special lady. He also thanked fans for coming out, explained that this was his first show in LA after two years, and also gave encouraging words telling his fans that they’re blessed to be alive after having survived a pandemic. The energy was amazing with a stellar performance and we encourage everyone to check out the tour if it’s in your city.
