[Exclusive] DETROIT Film Cast Discuss Their Roles In The Visceral Film

Actors Jason Mitchell (Kong: Skull Island, Straight Outta Compton), Jacob Latimore (Sleight), Algee Smith Jr. (New Edition biopic) and several newcomers recently sat down with TRS to talk about their parts in DETROIT, the new feature film depicting the true story of a racially charged incident that occurred at Algiers Motel in 1967 amid the city’s riots.

A jarring portrayal of tensions between young black men and women and white police officers, the Annapurna Pictures production was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal, who’ve previously won Oscars for The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty.

DETROIT, currently in limited release, opens nationwide on Friday. Make sure to visit TRS this weekend to watch additional interviews with cast members including Anthony Mackie and Laz Alonso.
